OUR MISSION:

Educate people about how fantastic and destructive plastic can be through hands-on experiences, creating valuable products as part of a collaborative alliance between university and community.

HOW IT WORKS

PLASTIC MANUFACTURED

Most plastics are manufactured using
chemicals extracted from crude oil,
natural gas or plants.

PLASTIC BECOMES WASTE

Plastic items are disposed of, often after a single use.

WASTE SORTED

In and around Lancaster the council's kerbside system now accepts bottles, pots, tubs and trays. Everything else is burned for energy or sent to landfill.

ENERGY FROM WASTE?

Energy from Waste is much cleaner than basic incineration but still results in single use plastics being converted into harmful CO2. In landfill plastics can last for hundreds of years :(

BURNING PLASTIC?  WHAT A WASTE!

Energy from Waste is a good solution for bio-waste, but it's a lazy solution for perfectly recyclable plastic which has been used once. We see this as not only a huge problem, but as a huge opportunity...

WE SAVE A LITTLE SOMETHING...

...And Create Something New!

We create and sell products using plastic which would otherwise be burned or sent to landfill. This generates revenue for local businesses, gives local people and students a shared objective and helps them learn new skills such as design, manufacturing and entrepreneurship. We use all of this great stuff as a way to educate people about the problem and opportunity we face.
